Better to start as a cat & end like a lion than the other way round

A job well begun is half done.

We often talk about the importance of starting. How the magic happens when you take an initiative. It’s nothing short of a celebration, we start with high energy ready to take on the world.

Then the world does its magic, energy fizzles out taking along the initiative.

The world has a lot of starters.

Think about how many different things you’ve started. It could be learning an instrument, a sport, working out, reading/writing & any other professional or personal project. How many of those have you finished? Let alone to a level of expertise but even to a level of your liking? And there are tons of people like us, good starters.

Starting isn’t difficult, following through & finishing is.

A senior told me this in my first week at college & this has stuck ever since — Better to start as a cat & end like a lion than the other way round.

Back then it was in the context of dating, but I guess this is applicable across domains 😅

The world doesn’t have a lot of finishers.

If you can keep at something & see it through till completion, you are rare. And only if you finish something, do you move the needle.

A job well begun is half done but a job half done is as good as none.
